    Description

On offer, we have an original poster for "Gismonda". This French opera was based on a play written by Victorien Sardou. The planned premiere in Paris was halted by the outbreak of World War I. The composer was given leave by the French army to premiere his opera with Mary Garden in the title role at the Chicago Opera January 14, 1919.  The art design was done by Rochegrosse. This lithograph poster measures 36 1/4" X 27". The print is 31" X 23 1/2".
This is in very good condition for being 100 years old. The print is almost flawless, but it has a fold line. The margins are wrinkled, torn and worn. It should frame nicely with them removed. Please view my photographs for more description.
My friend is starting to part with some of his treasures. Aren't you glad? You may be interested in viewing his other opera posters I have listed at this time.
I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping.
