Mini Native American Styled Corn MaidenHere is my latest creation of a tiny Hopi Corn Maiden Doll figure in Native American style. She started out as a vintage wood bead with a hand-sculpted clay head and hair. Next, I sculpted her "Ear of Corn" textured front, then painted and antiqued the corn to resemble the colorful ears of Indian maize. Real suede leather was used to make her shawl and a hand-painted corn plant adorns the back. The Corn Maiden symbolizes the prayers of the Zuni people for a bountiful harvest. Her necklace is strung with ultra tiny antique seed beads courtesy of Terri from microseedbeads dot com. Finally a bronze colored pendant with turquoise bead and a real fur tassel complete her look. A brass base keeps her standing steadily on her own. This little maiden stands a mere 1 and 5/8" tall!
This is "Not" a toy for kids! It is designed for adults who love whimsical art. The sculpture would be terrific with vintage as well as modern items to enhance any collection or just be a unique item on its' own. What a great gift for your collector friends or a fun treat for yourself!
This item comes signed and dated by myself, the artist, and will be carefully bubble wrapped and shipped in a sturdy box. Payment due within three days of auction.
