    Description

    We offer this early invoice issued by the Jenney Manufacturing Co., Refiners of Petroleum and its Products... Refinery in South Boston. Penned "1/2 Brl Head Light Oil" etc... Dated 1909. Jenney Manufacturing Co., were refiners and Wholesale Dealers in Petroleum and It's Products; Illuminating and Lubricating Oils, Naptha, Gasoline, Gas Oil, Paraffine Oil and Wax. The Jenney Oil Co. was founded in 1812 in Boston by Stephen Jenny. This firm sold kerosene, coal and whale oil. The company transitioned to selling petroleum around 1856. By the 1920's, they were major suppliers of automobile oil and gasolines with their own gas stations in New England. Merged with Cities Service in about 1965 and replaced by "Citgo".
