My most recent estate sale adventure led me to a collector of who seemed to enjoy many antique artist made dollhouse miniatures. I happily picked away at the tables of tiny treasures and am excited to offer a few of these to my friends here on eBay!
Here we have a wonderful artist made miniature that is one of the tiniest peddler dolls you’re likely to find! This is a “Minikins by Regina Anderson,” as indicated with the original label on the bottom. Made all from wood and cloth, this tiny lady measures just shy of 2 1/4” tall. She is mounted on a wood plinth that is 2 1/2” long. This diminutive little lady proffers a tray of hand made wooden toys, with a furnished wooden dollhouse at her feet. In, or hanging from her tray, is a peg wooden dolls, two wooden doll skittles, an Erzgebirge style carved wood Christmas tree, and a whimsical red hobby horse! Each little piece is tied on, and not sloppily glued in. The tiny dollhouse is 1” high and is wonderfully furnished with a baby grand piano and stool, along with a hanging chandelier.
The peddler herself has a carved wooden head with a dimensional nose, and a smile with hand painted features. She has wooden arms that are neatly wrapped in thread for her sleeves. She is beautifully dressed for a doll so small, from her teeny crocheted bonnet lined with a ruffle, to the lacy pinafore apron she wears over her pleated skirt. The workmanship is mighty fine, and she’ll be a welcome addition to your dollhouse vignettes—or under your tabletop Christmas tree, as I have shown in the last picture (other items not included).
